Review by a Reader
By: Ben Yawney
The novel “The Book Thief” by Marcus Zusak is a story about a young girl named Liesel Meminger growing up in Nazi Germany. The story is told in a very interesting way because it is narrated by death who has found the book that Liesel wrote during her years in the city of Molching. Although the book is very slow moving it still manages to be a page turner, I believe it's because of the curiosity surrounding her life and the difference in attitude around that time. The book also finds a way to incorporate some German words making the whole story seem more generic. However I would not recommend the book for people who are looking for action pack novels, something that this book does lack.
Is This Book For You?

If you are a history buff, World War II fanatic, or generally interested in Germany, this book is for you! The Book Thief takes you back to World War II and lets you see how life was for both a German and a Jewish man. If you are seeking an action-packed or adventure novel, this book is not for you. I recommend both teenage boys and girls to read this novel.
