JUAN FRANCISCO BLANCO
there were still close misses by the energy bolts. Stones would
splinter off, and violently fly around from the ancient buildings
they were riding past. Up ahead, Tital could see Jonathan and
Viviana were holding hands in front of a large carved stone
archway, but the heavy stone door was only partly open, not
enough for them to enter.
“Quick, grab my hands Bardala! We need that door opened
more,” Tital said.
As soon as Bardala’s hands touched his, the massive stone
door opened all the way. It gave them plenty of room to ride
through it. Once everyone was inside the large, lighted room,
Tital said, “Release my hands, Bardala.”
As soon as her hands no longer touched his, the stone door
slid closed.
“I think we are safe,” Bardala said, “Jonathan, Viviana, are
you both okay?”
“Yes. Did you see? When Viviana held my hands, we moved
the big stone door a little, we have some powers too!” Jonathan
said with a big smile on his face.
They looked around in the large stone-enclosed room, nearly
as big as a soccer field. Many Mayan glyph-encrusted archways
that appeared to lead to grand hallways were mysteriously lit by
the same glow that you might expect on a sunny day.
Viviana had walked her horse around to cool her off, when
she stopped in front of a waist-high stone table. “Look at these
green stones Bardala,” Viviana said as she held a large, uncut
green stone up to the light, “They really look pretty.”
“Yes, they are very pretty. These are emeralds...” Bardala
was saying, when she was interrupted, by another voice.
