“Tital and Bardala, take the young ones, and the horses, and
head for that large pyramid to the north. When you get there,
hold hands, and a hidden door will open. Go inside, and you will
be safe untill Zotz and I can come and get you. Anyone inside will
be your friend. Once you are inside, release hands, and the door
will close. We will go and fight with Ikal Ahan and Yum Cimil.
They are the same demons that attacked the Negreté family
before. Now, hurry before they get any closer,” Mahucutah told
them.
The horses were hard to control, but Tital and Bardala
managed to get Jonathan and Viviana mounted. “Ride north, we
will be right behind you!” yelled Tital, as he mounted his horse,
Centella.
Bardala’s horse was giving her problems, since one of the
bolts of energy had exploded nearby, scaring the horse. It was
circling around, and Bardala only had the ends of the reins when
another energy bolt directly hit her horse. The horse fell down,
and could not get back up again. Tital circled around, bent down
and grabbed Bardala’s arm, quickly pulling her up behind him.
They rode north to the large stone pyramid as fast as Centella
could carry them. When Tital looked back over his shoulder, all
he could see were bolts of energy being sent in both directions.
He hoped Mahucutah and Zotz could keep the two demons at
bay while he and Bardala fled for safety. The nearby crash of the
energy bolts kept Tital moving rapidly towards the large pyramid,
about a kilometer ahead. It seemed to Tital that Centella was
able to run faster than she ever had, even carrying the two of
