“Lena, where are you?” He shouted out. His echo bounced
around the room. “Kuó, where are you?” Still nothing, no
answers came back. Jonathan could see two flashlights lying on
the stone floor, shining their light out haphazardly. He could see
the opened Portal door to somewhere. His keen eyes searched
around the room for movement. Nothing moved. All the rows of
stone statues remained immobile.
Below in the King’s chamber, Tital grabbed up his Staff of
Power and Bardala grabbed the golden Mayan sword out of
Lentito’s pack. Tital yelled out, “Dad, Uncle, get Ronú and stay
down here! Zotz protect them. Bardala, Viviana, watch my back!
Leave the horses here. Brilloso, guard the stairs!” Tital floated
up the stairs, and with Bardala close behind, met up with Viviana
who was halfway up the staircase with her horse, Mañzana. The
three of them continued to float up into the air once they
reached the Queen’s chamber. Tital could see Jonathan floating
ahead of them, and quickly floated over to cover his back.
“Have you seen anything move?” Tital asked Jonathan.
“No, and no answer from Moka, Eegh, Lena, or Kuó. There’s
only that opened Portal door. They must have...” Jonathan was
interrupted by the sound of rock grating on rock.
“KUKUKUKUKUKU! KUKKUKUKUKUKUKUKUKU!”
Viviana yelled out, “Look, one of the stone statues is coming
alive...it’s moving.” One up next to the glowing opened Portal
door started to move its arms, its head turned, its eyes opened
and looked around the room, and its legs took a hard step
forward.
“Who summoned me?” asked a female’s voice.
