JUAN FRANCISCO BLANCO
Just then young Kuó yelled out, “Jonathan, come help me!
I’ve caught a huge fish!” Jonathan ran over to the other side of
the boat and began helping Kuó, showing him how to reel the
fish in with a steady motion.
“I’ll get the net ready,” Ronú said, as Kuó strained on the rod
and reel.
“It’s a big fish, and it looks like a Tuna,” Viviana said, as she
took Kuó’s picture while he was working hard trying to pull the
fish in. It was so large that it took Kuó over twenty minutes, but
he finally had the fish next to the boat.
“I’ve got it in the net!” Ronú yelled, trying to pull it into the
boat by himself, “Ooooofff! Jonathan, I am going to need your
help to get it in.” Jonathan just grinned, and strode over to help
haul the fifty kilogram fish onto the deck.
“Okay, now that we have the fish, who wants to cook it?”
Tital asked everyone.
“We elect you!” Bardala shouted from the tiller. “I remember
back on a beach when you said you just LOOOOOOOVED Marlin,
so we have one and a big fat Tuna also. You will be busy, O
Master Chef!”
Tital looked around, and everyone was pointing their fingers
at him. He looked overhead, and even Moka and Eegh were
pointing at him. He looked to his left, and Brilloso raised his left
paw.
“Weeeell...Okay, I guess I am the cook tonight. I hope you
like the food. Jonathan, please have Ronú help you build a
cooking fire in the brick oven over there.” Tital took out his
Hibben knife, and began cutting steaks from first the Marlin, and
then the fat Tuna. Lena helped by finding aluminum pans to
bake the seven-centimeter-thick steaks in.
