Fish in a Tree

Lynda Mullaly Hunt

This is a very good book for anyone who likes a nice school-setting story. The main character, Ally, is a girl who has a lot of trouble in school: she can’t read, and it’s very hard for her to write. All her teachers seem to think that she doesn’t try hard enough, but Ally knows she is putting in her best effort. All through her life, people have either told her to try harder, to do better, or insulted her and her abilities with nicknames like ‘slow’, and ‘dumb’. Ally grows so tired of all this attitude that she starts to give up on herself too. Then, she hears that she is going to have a new teacher. And that new teacher sees the brilliant mind hidden in that young girl. I’ll leave the rest for you to read.

I would give this book 5 stars in quality because it is full of constant surprises and changes. You will soon start to feel sympathy for Ally, and it’s easy to understand what she is going with, especially if you’re someone who finds it difficult to fit in or do well in school. I hope you consider this review and take a look at it!

A good suspense story will always leave you wanting more, and this book is full of it, along with twists and turns along the pages. I won’t reveal much about it because you’d have to actually read it to understand the mystery of it, but the main plot of this book is about a girl named Tori, who is dealing with the death of a friend, and the blame for it. At the end of each chapter, there are short conversations between the dead friend and Tori, along with a few other friends, and soon, you’ll start solving the mystery inside your head. Full of a mystery caller, a trustable friend, and the looming danger of a life in jail, you’ll find that you won’t put this book down until you’re done.

In my opinion, this is one of the best suspense novels you’ll find. I give it 5 stars for its quality and for its deepness. It’s available in the library if anybody would like to read it.
