starting to dry around it, and how to remedy that. We took
lots of pictures and marveled at all the beautiful designs,
and supported each other’s creative works of art! One
of the photographers assigned to ABDC came in while
we were working and he took professional photographs
of us. We also had a visit from one of the lovely ABDC
Directors, Tatianna! Volunteer whose job it was to make sure I had everything
I needed for the workshop. The volunteer even helped me
clean up and pack all materials away after the workshop.
When the henna designs were finished, we talked about fun
ideas you can do with your henna while it i s drying - glitter
and sparkles! We had plenty of both on hand. The henna
workshop was a success! The Directors and Staff of ABDC
exhibit utmost professionalism. They are a highly organized
team and their diligent work and tireless efforts reflect upon
the convention. I appreciated how all accommodations were
considered for the henna workshop. We were placed in a
space that had easy-clean tables and comfortable chairs.
I was also provided with a delightful ABDC Workshop STELLA MARROQUIN

The Belly Dance Chronicles
October 2017
Thank you, Amara & Tatianna, and the ABDC staff members!
Stella studied ballet, tap, and jazz from age three through
her teen years. She continued to dance, but was more
focused on her fine art studies and family. Later, she
began to take formal dance classes again - this time,
Belly Dance! She also took Zambra Mora. Under
instructor, Julie Flanders’s instruction, the true art and
history was passed down. In 2012, Stella acquired skills in making and
applying henna from Michele Boardman at 3rd Coast Tribal Fest. She
continues her studies through practice and perfecting her skills.
