Trojans Showcase Talent on Big Stage
The East Central Trojan boys and girls teams traveled up I-74 to run at the IHSAA Regional hosted at Shelbyville , hoping to extend their season for another few weeks . The Lady Trojans came into the meet with a little extra motivation , as they were seeking to advance to the Semi-State for the third consecutive season , further confirming them as a top program in the state .
Though the field was stocked with talented teams and runners , only the top five teams advance to the next round of the tournament . The Lady Trojans continued their season journey by taking fourth . Emily Wedding jumped to the front early in the race and remained a pack leader the entire race , placing twelfth overall . Her teammate , Abby Bittner , took a more cautious approach by laying back most of the race and finding another gear toward the end of the race , passing Emily Wedding in the last few moments of the race to place eighth . Lauren Greiwe also ran an excellent race placing twenty-fourth , followed closely by two newcomers to the sport , Emma Fey and Lily Greiwe whom Assistant Coach Fr . Jonathon Meyer spoke highly of . "[ They ] ran great races today ; without their help , this team would not

be what it is today ."
Though they are a strong team that was likely to advance , the Lady Trojans had no guarantee as they had struggled in their Sectional just one week before .
Unfortunately for the Trojans , the day was not a success for both teams . The boys placed sixth , one spot & twelve points away from advancing . Andrew White and Kameron Geisen will join the Lady Trojans to represent the boys ’ team as they advanced as individuals .
There is great excitement in the advancement of Andrew White and Kameron Geisen . This is the third year that Andrew has qualified for the Semi-State as an individual and the first year from Kameron . They alone keep the hopes of Trojan fans alive in search of returning home a state champion .
The boys ’ team walked into this race champions without the starting pistol being fired . Their season was very impressive if one looks at it from an overall point of view . In the thirteen meets that the boys ran , they made tremendous strides in the team standings in all but three races , compared to last year . They won the East Central Invite ,
Andrew White & Kameron Geisen advanced individually from their Regional meet .
Brown County Eagle Classic , Flashrock Invitational , Greensburg Invitational and took second at the Spartan Invite , Batesville Invite , EIAC , and Sectional .
Even their Regionals sixthplace finish was an improvement from their eighth-place finish just a year ago . Last year only one individual advanced to Semi-State ; this year two Trojans are advancing . Fr . Meyer reflected on the season ; " This has been a great season of personal and team success . There are 4 senior boys on the varsity team who have been true leaders and sources of inspiration : Andrew White , Kaleb Geisen , Kameron Geisen and Scott Jackson . Their leadership has been invaluable , and their influence will continue in the years to come ."
