A Tribute To Elloric

Personal Note: I actually found this article really hard to write. I have only exchanged a few conversations with Ghemit on Twitter so didn’t want to upset or offend him in anyway. I hope the below article does neither but show the support and respect that I have for him.

It was January 2013 and I was browsing through twitter when I had first heard about Elloric’s passing. I had never met him in game before and had only just started following his husband Ghemit on twitter.

Elloric had sadly passed away and the community came together to help Ghemit, Ellorics husband as well as to pay their respects to him. I was unable to attend as I had not heard about it until after the sad event.

I first found out about it when @wowmartiean put together this video. It was this video that I had first heard about what had happened. I sat in bed with my fiancée and watched the video, she looked across at me as I had a tear falling down my face.

I was upset at the fact that Ghemit had lost his husband but also overwhelemed at the reaction to those players that are close to both Elloric and Ghemit. They gathered in Darnassus to

to show respect to our fallen Night Elf.

A year has passed since this upsetting event and I wanted to also show my respect for a fellow player, someone I have never met before but someone that I shared a common interest in.

Ghemit had spent a lot of time working on a “Coming Back Together” video, allowing community members to once again remember their fallen friend.

This video had the same effect as the previous one, I again was incredibly moved by the love that Ghemit has and how amazing the WoW Community really can be!

Thanks to Blizzard it is possible to visit Elloric in game, so next time you are in the “Seat Of Knowledge” in the Vale Of Eternal Blossoms, go and take a knee and show your respect.

Ghemit had the following to say; "I want to thank everyone in the community. From my guild, to twitter and facebook groups. During this past year although I am now alone I never actually feel alone. This is what a community does, we stand together with each other through good times and bad.

The sudden loss of Elloric was very painful for many people and the constant love and support by the community has helped us to not crumble under that pain. The support has personally lifted me up to really work towards good, when I just wanted to give up.

I'm always surprised to see a screenshot from people I hardly know or don't know at all paying memory to my husband in the game. These pictures always make me smile knowing he will never be forgotten. I know if he were with us and saw all this he would have the biggest smile."
