Reflections on Time Well Spent

A farewell message from Atlanta Bar Executive Director , Terri Bryant , who has served the Bar and its members faithfully . he journey that led me to my role as the Atlanta Bar ’ s executive director is the story that I have heard repeatedly from members in my years spent here . It began with a legal leader tapping me on the shoulder and saying , “ There is a position that is going to be open , and I think you would be great at it .” So , my journey began .
My collaboration with lawyers for 13 years in my prior role as executive director of a children ’ s literacy and mentoring program , Everybody Wins ! Atlanta , was invaluable training . Lawyers and law firms were the mainstay of its volunteer and funding support , and gave me up close and personal witness to the open hearts and sacrificial and generous giving from the men and women who comprise the Atlanta legal community . You learn the value of what 30 minutes means in a practicing lawyer ’ s life . You also enjoy how fun and funny lawyers can be .
The last year and a half has certainly catapulted us all into a new reality of how life looks with the ongoing challenges of a worldwide pandemic . It is safe to say that associations and their work going forward will look remarkably different than in the past . In 2019 , the Innovation Study Group was established with the charge of providing mid- and long-term strategic and organizational guidance to the Atlanta Bar Board of Directors . The talented and visionary members that are assembled for that role will no doubt help guide the association to successfully adapt and adjust to an ever-changing landscape . There are also new programs that will serve our members well .

Thanks to the amazing presidents , board directors , and leaders of these last years , the Atlanta Bar now enjoys a thriving Wellness Committee that offers knowledge , resources , and activities needed to balance work / life demands . Each April we enjoy Member Appreciation Month to celebrate you (# ATLBarYOU ) with fun activities , free CLE ’ s , and giveaways .
The Atlanta Bar launched a new website this year where you can access information , resources , and use new tools to better connect and communicate with your colleagues more easily . A new Section was added
