changes to the bylaws to remove inconsistencies , to change common practice to match our governing documents , and to even consider whether the bylaws provided the flexibility to grow over the years as the Atlanta Bar continues to change . Many of the things that Terri has worked so hard on are time intensive , thankless tasks that would likely fall by the wayside if left to the volunteer leaders of the Atlanta Bar , but were expertly shepherded through under Terri .
Yet , that is not all . On top of all the less glamorous , yet immensely necessary work in the background , Terri also provided a consistent friendly face at events . I cannot count the number of times I have seen Terri at The Legal Runaround , or annual meeting and Celebrating Service lunches , among other events - every time with a smile . My own young children have already “ decided ” that Terri is required to always attend The Legal Runaround so that they can hang out with her again , like they did this year .
If I were to actually try to list all the things Terri has done to better the Atlanta Bar , this president ’ s message would fill the whole magazine . Please do not allow the brevity of this list to indicate any actual limitation on the benefits Terri has bestowed upon the Atlanta Bar during her tenure as our executive director .
While I have a few more weeks working directly with Terri , thank you for allowing me this moment to sing Terri ’ s praises as she gets ready to move into the next stage of her life . Frankly , I am not sure the next stage is any less challenging ( debating with my children often reminds me of debating with opposing counsel , so spending time with her grandchildren may not differ too much from her work with attorneys ), but it will be rewarding . I know I am not alone in saying that the Atlanta Bar has greatly benefited from Terri ’ s work and dedication .
Congratulations on your retirement , Terri , you will be missed !
