Meaningful Entertainment

E ntertainment means many different things to many different people . That is , in part , what makes living in a city like Atlanta so special . No matter your interest , hobby , or passion , you will more than likely find others similarly inclined . Groups may be formal or impromptu . What is important , though , is the connectivity this sort of entertainment encourages .

Togetherness is needed more now than ever . Indeed , it is no secret that the legal profession can , at times , be a lonely one ; perhaps never more so than last two years . Recognizing this , the Atlanta Bar has been intentional with our initiatives , each aimed at meeting you , our members , at your interests , hobbies , and passions . Our initiatives include routine health-promoting hikes coordinated by our Wellness Committee , lively discussions on the relevance and implications of a particular novel through Book Bar , and hands-on volunteer work ( food bank sorting , tree planting , etc .) through Service Bar . Not to leave out the muchanticipated return of the musical BARD Show in a few months ! Throughout , our hope is to provide not only professional value , but also meaningful entertainment for you , our members .
What do I mean by meaningful engagement ? It is rare , both in time and in place . I would guess many of you , like me , sometimes feel as though you are drowning in entertainment options . Yet , the old saying about quality versus quantity frequently comes to mind . How many times have you been headed to the office ( or anywhere frankly ) and become absorbed in some form of entertainment ? It is likely these days that the absorption occurred through your always-in-hand mobile device ; it is okay — I can relate . We all can ,
