RESTAURANT REVIEW Jai-Ho Indian Kitchen & Bar Sarah Siedentopf The Law Offices of Sarah Siedentopf, LLC [email protected] Jai Ho Indian Kitchen & Bar recently opened its doors in Midtown Atlanta. The restaurant is in the former Madre + Mason space, just off the Atlanta Beltline and a few minutes away from Piedmont Park. Jai Ho, which is loosely translated as “Be Victorious,” is the latest venture from the team behind the successful Savi Provisions neighborhood markets. Jai Ho is an upscale yet casual Indian fusion restaurant. Owner Paul Nair says the menu is inspired by his own upbringing in India. Jai Ho’s chefs are Anish Nair (no relation to Paul) and Vijeesh Paravil. Together, the team has developed a modern Indian cui- sine with regional influences. Many of the dishes incorporate the flavors of Pondicherry, a former French colony in southern India, which is a unique blend of French herbs and Indian spices. During my visit to Jai Ho, I had the opportunity to try the Jai Ho Sampler (pakora, veggie samosa, chicken tikka, sheikh kabob), ragada, chicken kadai, and the naan. Both the chicken dishes and the naan were well cooked and very flavorful. I opted for the mild versions of these items after the server warned our table about how spicy certain dishes could be; however, I might try the me- dium versions during my next visit. Jai Ho’s cocktail list was unique and also worth a return trip. The service was great for how busy the restaurant was that day, and, as an added bonus, my dining group spotted a celebrity chef seated near our table. Jai Ho is housed in a 3,700 square foot building with large L-shaped dining room, roomy bar and lounge, plus a 60-seat patio area. Attorneys may con- sider booking their next happy hour or 30 June/July 2017 networking event at Jai Ho. In addition to the tasty menu selections, the restau- rant is centrally located, has a spacious (free!) parking lot, and the layout of the building is also well-suited for large parties. Guests could easily mix and mingle on the patio or on the far side of the dining room without disrupting the other customers. Jai Ho is located at 560 Dutch Valley Road NE in the Morningside section of Midtown Atlanta. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, with a lunch buffet on Saturday and Sunday. It is closed on Mondays. For more information, visit jaihoatlanta. com or call (404) 458-6888. ▪
