The Intellectual property( IP) Section continues to offer its members educational and social activities. On August 26, 2015 the IP section welcomed a soldout audience to the Kids II, Inc. company offices for“ In- House Perspectives on Patent Portfolio Management,” to hear perspectives from Joe Staley, VP of Legal at Kids II, Susanne Hollinger, Head of Patents at the Coca-Cola Company and Chason Carroll, Senior IP Counsel at Mueller Water Products Inc. On November 17, 2015 the IP Section welcomed another sold-out audience to the Coca-Cola Company’ s offices for“ IP Litigation Management from the Inside: In House Counsel Best Practices and Insight” to hear perspectives from Allen Yee, Senior Counsel at the Coca- Cola Company, Komal Patel, Assistant General Counsel at the Home Depot, and Brian Decker, Senior Legal Counsel at Newell Rubbermaid. On February 11, 2016 the IP Section
is planning a third luncheon at the CNN Center entitled“ In- House Best Practices for Trademark and Copyright Litigation & Portfolio Management,” with perspectives from Rick McMurtry, Assistant General Counsel at Turner Broadcasting System, Kristin Goran, VP of Legal at FOCUS Brands and Elizabeth Wheeler, Counsel at UP Television. Socially, the IP Section co-hosted an event on November 3, 2015 at Emory Law School with Atlanta-area IP law students. On April 15-16, 2016 the IP Section’ s flagship event, the 12th annual“ SpringPosium,” will be held at Barnsley Gardens Resort, with a keynote speech from US Congressman Doug Collins, the Vice Chair for the House IP Subcommittee. The IP Section has also begun welcoming registered Patent Agents as its newest affiliate members, and looks forward to their participation. 34 THE ATLANTA LAWYER January 2016 The Official News Publication of the Atlanta Bar Association
