As part of the day’s festivities, Atlanta Bar Association
president Maggie Vath presented the annual Peace
Office of the Year Award to Officers Kimberly Williams
and Ronald Paxson of the Atlanta Police Department
APEX Unit. The officers were recognized for their
quick thinking and heroic efforts which led to the
rescue of an elderly couple who were unaware of a fire
surrounding them in their apartment building. The
officers found their way through thick smoke, kicked
down the apartment door, and led the couple and
their dog down the stairwell of the burning building
to a place of safety.
Awards are given to the top male and female finish-
ers in various age brackets. The Legal Runaround
2017 Overall Male and Female Winners were Evan
Beauchamp and Kimberly Williams. The Masters
Category Male and Female Winners were Simon
Angove and Lynn Olmert.
