Atlanta Bar Foundation ' s Summer of Fun Series : Dinner and a Drive- In Movie

The Atlanta Bar Foundation ’ s “ Summer of Fun ” series continued this July with dinner and a movie in the Poncey-Highlands . On July 29 , 2021 , the Foundation hosted a percentage night at Southern Belle restaurant , followed by the movie My Cousin Vinny at the Plaza Theatre drive-in .
Southern Belle , located in the historic Ponce de Leon Plaza , features four- or seven-course tasting menus comprised of locally sourced ingredients . The menu is whimsical and critically acclaimed ; it celebrates the multi-cultural influences of modern Atlanta and the community of local farms and artisans . Those who attended the dinner enjoyed both the culinary experience and the atmosphere – Southern Belle ’ s interior has a homey feel with eclectic , salon-style art . The restaurant generously donated 10 % of the event ’ s proceeds to the Foundation .
The group then headed to nearby Plaza Theatre , also located in the Ponce de Leon Plaza , for a drive-in movie featuring My Cousin Vinny . During COVID-19 , the Plaza transformed its back parking lot into a drive-in theater . It continues to be a popular spot for watching both classic and newly-released films . For the Foundation ’ s event , the parking lot was packed with viewers – some enjoying the movie from their car , others deciding to tailgate in the parking lot . Everyone had a great time watching ( and loudly quoting !) the classic legal comedy .
