JOINT PROGRAMS
On February 1 the Elder Law Section, together with
the Estate Planning and Probate Section and the Fi-
nancial Planning Association of Georgia, sponsored
“Planning for the Decades of Life,” a terrific seminar
organized by attorney Elaine Levine of Kwartin Levine
and held at the offices of Signature FD. The event
received rave reviews from the nearly 100 attorneys,
CPAs, financial planners and others who attended. Matt
Barber, president of the Financial Planning Association
of Georgia, attorney Mark Williamson of Alston &
Bird, attorney Sarah Watchko of Hill & Watchko, and
attorney and CPA tax specialist Murray Saylor of the
Saylor Law Firm gave their views and perspectives on
many issues involving blended families, adults aging
and declining, and financial matters while following
a family from their 20s through their 90s.
On April 12, the Elder Law Section hosted a joint break-
fast with the Bankruptcy Law Section at the offices of
Nelson Mullins on elder investment fraud and financial
exploitation. Speakers were Sherry Boston, DeKalb
County district attorney and Gerlda Hines, chief of
staff of Georgia’s Department of Human Services.
On May 15, the Elder Law Section will jointly sponsor
a luncheon with the Estate Planning and Probate Sec-
Speaker Diane Weinberg (Morgan and DiSalvo, P.C.)
presenting at the Elder Law Section Breakfast on
February 21.
