Concept development: 3D Concept development: 3D Precedents Following on from the previous model where different levels and spaces were created, I tested the idea of suspending rooms or ‘pods’ within the building, similar to the work of Will Alsop. This idea links well with my scheme as having individual pods could create smaller workspaces for the users. Figure 14- Concept model sketch [Primary source] However due to the nature of the external facade of the Knight & Lee building, suspending rooms would lead to structural problems. So moving forward with the design, I have decided that using columns to support the new ��isting structure of the building. �� Figure 15- Concept model sketch [Primary source] Figure 17- Concept model [Primary source] Netherlands Dance Theatre Designed by Rem Koolhaus and completed in 1987, the dance theatre consisted of 3 levels: the lowest slotted beneath the auditorium tiers, above it a half-moon balcony, the highest - a �� I was drawn to the ‘half-moon balcony’ being supported by coloured columns. The balcony allows �� a greater sense of space within the building.
