LUXURY TRAVEL 59
Breakfast too was a standout: breakfast is served daily in The English Grill, where we found a wide variety of hot and cold options, all of high standard and freshly cooked.
SERVICE & STAFF
What made our stay truly memorable was the service throughout every department. Every single member of staff was warm, professional, and attentive. A very special mention must go to John the doorman, who has been welcoming guests for over 46 years. His presence, kindness and charm added a deeply personal and historic touch to our stay— we felt that we were being looked after by someone who has seen decades of London hospitality and whose pride in his role shines through.
Despite the hotel’ s size, which we only fully appreciated after exploring( it offers many room types, suites, lounge and dining spaces), the personal service made it feel intimate and welcoming. We were constantly impressed by how every detail was handled with care and genuine hospitality.
LOCATION & AMBIENCE
Palace steps away, and with Westminster and Victoria stations close by— it provided the perfect base for exploring London’ s historic and cultural heart.
The ambience inside blends traditional British grandeur with comfortable warmth. Velvet drapes, dark wood panelling, rich fabrics and classic décor give you the feeling of stepping into a refined London hotel, while still feeling welcoming rather than imposing.
The hotel also makes an effort to look after your wellness, curated menus for healthy options, and nearby jogging routes through St James’ s Park are part of their offering.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The Rubens isn’ t just a hotel— it’ s a truly special experience. We left with lasting memories: the luxurious suite, the refined tea, the attentive service, the sense of being in a place where every detail was considered. If you’ re looking for classic luxury, deep tradition and world-class service in the heart of London, you won’ t go wrong here.
We would absolutely stay again— and wouldn’ t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for that“ royal” stay in London.
The Rubens’ location is absolutely champion: perched across from the Royal Mews, with Buckingham www. rubenshotel. com
