What do you think separates Maison Ernest from other companies ? What is it that makes your products so special ?
I cannot say what differentiates us from other companies ... having such a strong history , such a deeprooted DNA , ... having an artistic director who is a woman , where unfortunately there is less and less parity in this position in fashion ...
I don ’ t fantasize about the perfect or ideal woman ; I fantasize about making my customers happy and beautiful when they wear my creations ... I create for figures in love with femininity , because I am a woman , I wear my creations , and if I treat each of them like my child , I bring to them my critical eye but also all my attention and love , without concession and without limit . It may be special , but for me it is only the foundation of all my work .
The past few years have been very hard for everyone , could you tell us how you have managed to keep going through this period ?
We ’ ve been through a difficult period , but also a turning point : digitalization has taken a predominant place in our lives and our desires . We had to adapt to meet these changes . A great sense of solidarity was also created : I have never been so close to our manufacturers to try to find solutions and move forward . But you know , as a creative person and also an entrepreneur , I perceive change as inherent to our industry , and we have to accept and embrace it as best we can .
When did you first know you were going to be a fashion designer ?
By the time I was seven , I already knew what I wanted to do . At that age , I was designing entire collections of dresses , accessories and ... shoes , of course !
