"Sigma" Table by Elliott Barnes, Prototype
Exhibited at Mus e Carnavalet, Paris
The “Sigma” table is a prototype created for the exhibition
transpositions – Elliott Barnes at the Mus e Carnavalet, Paris in
2014.
During the Designers’ Days from 19th-25th May 2014, the
American Architect Elliott Barnes occupied the Louis the 16th
wing of the Mus e Carnavalet. The exhibition proposed a dialogue
between furniture designed by Elliott Barnes and the museum’s
permanent collection.
This piece was executed thanks to the talents of the most
accomplished French artisans. This “savoir-faire” is equally
honoured in the historical collection of the Mus e Carnavalet,
which is dedicated to the history of Paris.
The structure made of bent steel is connected by a ring. The
frame is made of solid pieces of chestnut wood, assembled with
a dovetail technique that has crossed the times since antiquity;
the final stained matte finish is used to maintain an aesthetic as
close as possible to raw wood; a steel sheet, positioned in centre
of table top creates an aesthetic link with the base and ensures
durability.
The “Sigma” table is produced and sold in a limited edition of 5.
Series 1/5 is on sale at €14.130,00 Euros.
The Prototype is on sale at €21.200,00 Euros.
