President ’ s Message
Hello to our valued fire chiefs , friends , and customers , and welcome to another edition of the Metalfab quarterly newsletter . In this fall edition , we are focusing on reinforcing fire safety in recognition of Fire Prevention Week in Canada . This annual event will take place from October 3rd through the 9th .
As the theme for this year ’ s Fire Prevention Week is “ Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety ,” we ’ ve coined our feature article for this quarter , “ The Sounds of Fire Safety : Fire Truck Style .” In this article , we ’ re excited to share with you the numerous audible warnings to listen for on new fire trucks . It ’ s also a great opportunity to consider your options for sirens and air horns on your next custom unit .
In addition to raising awareness for modern audible warnings , we would like to let you in on the safety protocol we use here at Metalfab in case of a fire emergency . Our Metalfab team utilizes an evacuation alert system , which consists of modified air horns located throughout our facility . In the event of a fire , the loud sound of the air horns captures everyone ’ s attention , and we all know to leave our office or station and gather at the predetermined rally point . Attendance is then taken at the rally point to ensure everyone who was in the facility at the time of the alert is present .
Having this tried-and-true system in place gives our team peace of mind that we ’ ll all be safe and accounted for should we encounter a fire on the premises . Of course , we also practice avid fire prevention to reduce the risk of having to activate our evacuation alert system .
