Foundation Silent Auction Beginning
to Rack Up Great Donations
The APDT Foundation was created to help raise money specifically
for research projects that would be of practical use to dog trainers,
dog behavior consultants, shelter trainers, and others who work to
improve the lives of dogs and the humans they live with.
If APDT members want to contribute to the APDT Foundation,
they can provide an item for the auction or buy an item if they attend
the APDT annual conference Oct. 17-21 in Memphis this year.
The foundation is a registered 501c(3) charity and our tax ID
number is 27-1498724. All donations are tax deductible according
to the Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations.
This year’s auction is off to a grand start, according to Foundation
board member Sarah Anderson. “We have already received some
amazing donations for this year’s silent and live auction,” she
said. Those items include:
• One seat in Ken McCort’s Wolf Park 3-day seminar: Package
includes face-to-face interaction with many of the park animals
(wolves, two species of foxes, and protected contact with coyotes
and bison) as well as other park amenities like Howl Nights.
Most meals (breakfast, lunches and some dinners) are included.
Attendees need to secure their own transportation and lodging.
Ken will personally drive the highest bidder to and from the
Indianapolis airport (if they fly) and from their hotel to and
from the park each day. In addition, this person will be close to
Ken when interacting with the animals. As the vast majority of
animals at the park know and like Ken, this means that person
is likely to get extra attention from the animals while inside their
enclosures. Without the additional perks, this seminar is valued
at $495.
• PETCO gift basket of dog toys, treats and other goodies,
valued at more than $100
• Whistle 3 GPS Pet Tracker & Activity Monitor. Simply
attach to your pet’s collar — you’ll be able to locate them in
minutes and track their daily activity on your phone. Track your
pet nationwide on the AT&T cellular network. Location alerts
by email, app and text. Activity and rest monitoring. Shock
resistant and waterproof.
• Shannon Coyner, also a conference speaker, is donating a
signed copy of her book “The Evolution of Dog Training.”
If you have an item to donate, dog related or other, we would love
to hear from you! To donate to the Silent or Live Auction at the
upcoming APDT Annual Educational Conference and Trade
Show, please contact [email protected].
