AWO’s Core
Mission
Advocating for the tugboat, towboat and barge industry
has been at the heart of AWO’s mission since the
association was founded in 1944. AWO members and staff
work together to educate federal and state policymakers on
the value of the industry to our nation’s economy, security,
environment and quality of life, while promoting public
policy that enables the industry to continue to provide
high-quality American jobs and deliver vital cargoes safely
and efficiently. In 2016, AWO succeeded in advancing
industry priorities on both the national and regional levels.
