Upcoming Events Club Club News News Club House Development Works Works have begun on the alterations to the wall adjacent to the Women's facilities and the Board Room, these alterations are in preparation for the Clubs 150-year History Wall. The Club’s Achieves Committee have spent a considerable amount of time preparing the panels which represent the special events that have made the RPAYC the "best Club in the world”. The alterations will also provide the room required to extend the existing reception counter allowing a more seamless interaction between members and the office. The refurbishment to the main entrance area including the extension of the reception counter and the air lock is not expected to begin until the 1st ¼ of 2018. Once the alterations to the History Wall are complete, works will immediately begin on the alterations to the main administration area, unfortunately there will be interruptions to operation during the construction period which is likely to be completed by the end of September. During the works the Sailing Office will be relocated to the Regatta Office and Administration and other departments will be relocated to Board room. Reception will continue to operate as normal. Have you seen the History Walk? Members will see that 13 Boards dotted around the club site which provide historical information about the development of the club site. The History Walk is part of the RPAYC Sesquicentenary Celebrations. There is a map by the anchor in the car park for members to follow the walk around the site or pick up a map from reception. Portuguese Beach Picnic 30 July The last Sunday in July was my turn to lead the picnic. The forecast was for 26degrees and 15Kn north westerly breeze. The day started early with coffee in halyards where the Galileo crew and families converged. This time we swapped Galileo for Alfred one and the sailing challenge with the intricacies of starting the race. Thanks to Debbie Holder we had all the technicalities right. Children on Alfred one enjoyed playing the horn and setting the flags up. Three yachts turned up for a highly contested and close race in great breeze. The two 11 meters completed the course in 33 minutes closely followed by Scoot. The race was so fast that Alfred I had to put extra speed to get to the beach in time and set the finish line before the
