Darcy Robbins and Sienna Brown represented RPAYC at the Allianz Youth Sailing World Championships from 8-15 July 2022 . They travelled to The Hague , Netherlands for the competition .

Here is there YSCF report : Leading up to the Youth Worlds we were training six days a week . including on water training sessions with the Australian youth mens 29er team , gym sessions and physiology meetings to prepare ourselves to achieve our possible best at this event . From the beginning of 2022 we were training to qualify for this event training in the mornings before school and in the afternoons after school , after we qualified we changed the setup of our boat to match what we would be given at the Hauge .
Our goals for the event was to experience our first international regatta in the 29er class . We knew the venue was going to have tricky conditions as there was a lot of current and tide something that we don ’ t usually have to race with and therefore our goal was to utilise our knowledge of the tide times to strategically use it to aid our races . During the event there was very light and minimal wind which had been change for us as our lead up training was in heavier winds so switching back to our light wind handling was important .
Throughout the racing we met our goals and now have focused on what we can improve on moving forwards .
The highlight of the event was the first day of racing before we launched the energy that was around was nothing like we had ever experienced before . It was such a cool and unique experience that will stay with us forever . All the boats lined up with the flags on each sail as everyone started their preparations for the first day of racing , that is when we looked around and knew that this is where we wanted to be .

“ We are aiming to travel to the Open World Championships in 2023 , where our goal will be to win the women ’ s category .”
