D Company’s ‘Zumbatastic’ Fund Raiser
By SI L.McCauley
On Monday 29th April cadets from across D
Company teamed up to raise funds by taking
part in a mass ‘Zumbathon’.
Cadets from Linlithgow, Livingston, Bathgate,
Broxburn and Whitburn detachments came
together to raise money for company funds to
ensure that everyone going to Barry Buddon in
July has a fantastic annual camp. A fund
raising ‘Zumbathon’ was organised last year
and was so successful it was decided to do it
again this year.
The cadets spent an hour learning routines
and many of them got to take a turn up on the
stage to strut their stuff. By the end of the
night instructor Joanna was very impressed
with what she saw: ‘You have an amazing
bunch of kids here, they did themselves
proud”
So much fun was had that at the end of the
night cadets were asking when the next one
was happening – so watch this space!
A local Instructor, Joanna Stroud, kindly
donated her time and enthusiasm while local
school Broxburn Academy allowed use of the
assembly hall. The cadets themselves raised
the money through individual sponsorship and
the fantastic total of £879 was achieved – with
all the cadets even and some of the instructors
having a great time raising it.
