PRODUCTS APG Uniline bolstered by 18-inch sub DESCRIBED AS the ‘big brother’ of the existing UL115B, the 18-inch UL118B has become the second dedicated subwoofer to join APG’s Uniline modular line array. The new larger sub is expected to broaden the appeal of the French manufacturer’s system, taking it into a larger range of applications including arenas, stadia, and outdoor festivals. A schematic of the UL118B Primarily intended for use in conjunction with the UL115B as an infra-bass extension for large systems, the UL118B can also be used as a primary subwoofer for medium-sized applications requiring more low-end extension. It was reportedly developed in response to requests from the television market requiring an 18-inch solution that could be own to protect sight-lines. The sub comprises a single convection cooled neodymium transducer mounted in a double-chamber band-pass enclosure, with an integrated four point rigging system for suspension. It can also be ground-stacked using the same rigging accessories as the rest of the Uniline range. Cardioid and arc con gurations are also possible thanks to the Speakon connector on the front. In more Uniline news, APG has expanded the range of available accessories in the shape of the UlRail lightweight ying rail for single arrays of UL210 and/or UL210D, and the UlStack lightweight stacking accessory. Both are intended to facilitate the deployment of small systems, either in xed installations or for the rental market. Two standard racks have also been announced. The 4-in/4-out UniRack comprises a DMS48 digital system processor and two SA30:2 ampli ers plus a full-featured connection panel. The 4-in/8-out TourRack, meanwhile, has been speci cally developed for touring applications and includes a DMS48 processor and four SA30:2 ampli ers complete with the manufacturer’s CP1UM-IN and CP1UM-OUT modular connection plates. Both racks can be controlled via APG’s PWAPG software. According to the manufacturer, the new system is ‘perfect for small and medium applications’ and offers ‘high SPL and excellent frequency response’. The Arion 5 is composed of four twoway satellites (the SL 25), a self-powered tri-ampli ed subwoofer with built-in DSP (the SL 115 SA) and a ying frame for rigging. The tri-ampli ed module reportedly provides complete control over each band, with the ampli er delivering 1,000W to the subwoofer and 650W plus 150W to the satellites (mid and high respectively). Meanwhile, the onboard DSP allows endusers access via dedicated software to a number of key parameters for ideal system optimisation. Also new from the brand is the UDA 16, a uniform dispersion array column speaker designed to operate in acoustically dif cult and particularly reverberant environments. Constructed from aluminium to achieve a light weight, the UDA 16 is described by the manufacturer as ‘compact, portable and elegant’. In addition, two of the columns can be stacked and connected with a Z15A ampli ed subwoofer to extend low-end performance. 1/2 vertical See us at Pro Light & Sound 2014 Shanghai Hall W3 Booth C50 Hear us at the Live Sound Area Shipping: Now Web: www.equipson.es July–August 2014 PRO AUDIO ASIA 63
