Meyer Sound introduces DAS Audio reaches out to
‘most powerful cinema
small applications with Event
surround loudspeaker’
DESCRIBED BY the US
manufacturer as its ‘most powerful
cinema surround loudspeaker’,
Meyer Sound has debuted the new
self-powered HMS-15. Becoming the
biggest in its series, the speaker has
been designed to cater to studio’s
transitioning into multi-channel
immersive sound formats.
Designed for high-power, longerthrow applications in cinema
Meyer Sound’s HMS-15 cinema
surround loudspeaker
exhibition auditoriums as well as in
postproduction and screening rooms,
the surround speaker is capable
of operating in both 5.1 and 7.1
formats.
Inside the cabinet, the HMS-15
houses a 15-inch long-excursion LF
driver and a three-inch diaphragm HF
compression driver coupled to an 80x 50-degree (H x V) horn. It also has
an inbuilt two-channel ampli er with
active crossover, driver protection,
phase correction and frequency
response. This gives it a resultant
frequency range of 50Hz to 18kHz
and a maximum peak SPL of 133dB
(at one metre).
The speaker can be mounted on
walls or ceilings at xed or adjustable
angles with an optional wall-mount
or U-bracket. It is available in two
models, a 48V DC version powered
by the manufacturer’s MPS-488HP
external power supply, and the
HMS-15AC for installations where AC
power is already available.

THE EVENT series of line array
systems from DAS Audio is being
targeted at small to medium
sized applications, with the
Spanish manufacturer promising
‘impressive value for end-users’.
The range comprises two line
arrays and a companion bass
system, and is described as ideal
for both permanent installation
and mobile use.
The two line array options are
the Event 208A and the Event
210A, both of which are threeway, powered enclosures housing
double 8-inch and double 10-inch
assemblies respectively. Also
inside the boxes are single M-75
compression drivers and custom
injected aluminium high frequency
waveguides. Both models are
powered by a three channel
Class-D ampli er pushing 360W
peak per-channel, with a rear
panel offering Neutrik XLR and
powerCON connectors, status
LEDs and the manufacturer’s
Easy-DSPTM interface.
Low-end is courtesy of the 218A
double 18-inch sub which contains
the manufacturer’s long-excursion
LX series woofers. The frontloaded design is powered by a
3,600W peak Class-D ampli er
and reportedly achieves a rated
maximum peak SPL of 140dB.
It also boasts a Cardioid Preset
mode switch for easy set-up
of pairs of systems in cardioid
applications.

to 160Hz which can be defeated
to offer stereo ‘loop thru’

polarity reverse. All of the cabinets
are constructed out of Baltic Birch
