PRODUCTS Vue debuts most compact subwoofer yet WHILE DECLARING that ‘going deep isn’t always about size’, Vue Audiotechnik recently presented its most compact subwoofer yet in the shape of the double 10-inch hs-20, which includes the US manufacturer’s patent-pending Active Compliance Management (ACM) technology. The sub follows the hs-28 and hs-25 systems, which also include ACM, described as a ‘hybrid transducer alignment with onboard electronics to deliver more output and low frequency impact’ than vented designs. Crucially, Vue claims that the technology minimises the need to increase the dimensions of an enclosure, with CEO Ken Berger stating that the new sub ‘shows that the performance advantages of ACM The Vue Audiotechnik hs-20 subwoofer actually increase as the physical size of the enclosure decreases’. Power is derived via dual 500W long-term sine wave power (800W ‘peak’ power) for each woofer. Also onboard the sub is the manufacturer’s SystemVUE networking, facilitating the connection of multiple h-Class systems via wired or wireless Ethernet to a Windows or Mac computer. The enclosure itself is constructed from birch plywood with an integrated pole mount, while the grille and handle surrounds have been treated with a durable systems, but in a ‘compact and versatile design’ aimed at smaller applications. The enclosure comprises an 8-inch transducer with a neodymium compression driver boasting a Truextent beryllium diaphragm at its core. Again, SystemVUE networking is included, plus comprehensive DSP and dual transparent candy-apple red over a black powered coat base. Also new in the company’s h-Class range is the h-8, which is reported as combining the same technology found in the h-12 and h-15 birch cabinet offers M10 rigging points and an integrated polemount. The family of Wi-Fi remote controllable digital mixers includes 8-, 12-, 16-, and 24-channel models, each with built-in parametric EQ, dynamics, and digital FX available on all channels. All uMiX models include an on-board secure Wi-Fi and Ethernet router as well as remote microphone preamps. All four hardware models of the uMiX mixer 3/4 Island Built for both desktop and touch devices, the mixers bring remote access, multi-touch and key commands, with the look and feel of a hardware mixer. The built-in Wi-Fi router allows the mixer to create its own personal Wi-Fi network, connectable from any typical Wi-Fi enabled device. Control of groups, FX, permissions and channel safes can therefore be accomplished remotely. Users can capture performances with ‘one touch’ stereo recording to any USB stick/drive, and play the recordings back with the integrated digital media player. Additionally, uMiX16 and uMiX24 offer extra processing (MaxVolume and MaxxBass). Shipping: Now Web: www.smproaudio.com July–August 2014 PRO AUDIO ASIA 53
