PRODUCTS Individual solutions with SYStem ... for floor, desk, wall and 19” racks ■ ■ The Midas ProX console ProX debuts with Neutron engine ■ ■ ■ BUILDING ON the legacy of its Pro3, Pro6 and Pro9 digital consoles, Midas’ latest offering, described by the manufacturer as ‘the touring engineer’s dream’, is now upon us. Named the ProX, the console is the rst to bene t from the company’s new Neutron engine. Measuring less than 1.5m across, the control surface provides 168 inputs and 99 mix or 103 output channels simultaneously. AES50 digital audio connectivity allows scalability for up to a total of 288 network inputs and 294 network outputs. Integration with IP-compliant third party audio networks can also be achieved via Dante, Cirrus Logic, CobraNet, or using the Klark Technik DN9650 network bridge. The console’s 99 mix busses can be simultaneously displayed as 24 mono or stereo mixes on the console surface. Each of the displayed mixes has its own LCD select switch with RGB colour coding and scribble strips – plus 11-segment LED bargraph metering. In the Neutron core, FPGA and MIMD architecture delivers over 100 giga ops of real-time audio processing, translating into 271 simultaneous processing channels at 96kHz in 40-bit oating point operation. According to the manufacturer, the Neutron engine is capable of up to 800 audio channels, which can be routed on a point-to-point basis – and that routing can be changed, even on Flame resistant multi-hybrid cables and more Individually configurable distribution systems for floors, desks and walls Easy and space saving installation solutions Wide choice of accessory for your installation Fast delivery individual automation scenes. A new rack mounted multichannel microphone preamp has also been unveiled by the Music Group-owned manufacturer. The XL48 packs eight XL4 preamps into a 1U format, along with high and low pass lters, XL8 A/D convertors, and a low-jitter 1ppm clock. Additional features include LED input meters, individuallyswitchable phantom power, invert polarity and -20dB pad switches. The rack contains both analogue and digital inputs in ADAT and AES/ EBU format, an external word clock, and an internal sample rate of 96, 88.2, 48 or 44.1kHz. The D2-Rack is supplied with either BNC or Cat-5 Madi DiGiCo MD James Gordon with the D2-Rack & Sound exhibition in Frankfurt, alongside a new relationship with networking specialist Optocore. The new rack was described by managing director James Gordon as ‘opening up the full 96kHz connections, facilitating its use with a number of the manufacturer’s consoles. Though it contains the same convertors as found in the company’s SD Racks, the D2 is reportedly a ‘more compact, more ef cient and more affordable’ solution for connection at either 48kHz or 96kHz with no I/O reduction. Two I/O versions of the rack are available. The rst offers 48 mic inputs, 16 line inputs and two blank output slots allowing an additional 16 outputs in the end-users desired format, with a choice of analogue, AES or Aviom. The second version includes 24 mic inputs, 24 AES inputs, 16 line outputs and, again, two blank output slots offering the same choice of formats as above. Meanwhile DiGiCo has implemented a new version of Optocore software for all of its optically enabled consoles. The new format is intended to provide connectivity to X6R, DD2FR and DD4MR units, allowing Optocore devices to live on DiGiCo’s optical loop. The manufacturer is currently the only console manufacturer to bene t from OEM Optocore and is running the native 2.21 Optocore protocol.
