NEWS: EDUCATION DISTRIBUTION NEWS Ansata hosting a d&b audiotechnik seminar in India 1/2 vertical INDIA: Ansata CS Pvt Ltd has announced its ongoing education and seminar strategy for d&b audiotechnik following its recent appointment as the German loudspeaker brand’s Indian distributor. The company has described itself as promoting d&b throughout the territory ‘with considerable vigour’. ‘We had already fully briefed all our staff and trained three engineers in application and service support at the d&b facility at Backnang by the time the appointment was made,’ explained Ansata founder Leslie J Lean. ‘We wanted to reach out to our clients and end users as quickly as possible.’ The new strategy follows a visit to India by d&b APAC education manager Gert Sanner. ‘In the space of a week I visited three of and Mumbai,’ he commented, adding that ‘the others will follow shortly’. Mr Sanner’s visits encompassed single-day seminars addressing audiences of 25 people at a time, and addressing a variety of topics. ‘The main thrust was to familiarise people with what d&b does, how our focus is on directivity control and how that affects the electroacoustic features of d&b loudspeaker design,’ Mr Sanner continued. ‘I also found the many sound engineers present, although pretty conversant with the fundamentals of sound reinforcement, were eager to learn about our ArrayCalc software and the premise behind Following the seminars, Ansata attended the Palm India exhibition, at Mumbai’s Bombay Exhibition Center, with d&b’s technical sales specialist Ben Millson, and a full complement of the d&b range. ‘It seems there is a real hunger for these products,’ commented Mr Millson. ‘The response to the seminars was very positive,’ concluded Mr Sanner. ‘I’m already lining up a seminar season for September, when I’ll be delivering more in-depth sessions on audio and line array theory.’ www.ansata.net www.dbaudio.com Studer Broadcast Academy enrols 1,000th student The Studer Broadcast Academy website WORLD: Studer’s online Broadcast Academy training course has reportedly engaged more than 1,000 participants across 90 countries less than a year after its initial launch. A total of 170 engineers have completed the 170 engineers, over 85 per cent have opted to be listed on the manufacturer’s website in a searchable engineer database (used by companies a nd productions looking to employ Studer Vista engineers). ‘We launched StuderBroadcastAcademy.com in partnership with CRAS (Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences) in August 2013 and the programme’s popularity has exceeded our high expectations,’ said Katy TemplemanHolmes, associate director of recording and broadcast, Harman Professional. ‘But we’re not stopping now.
