SINGAPORE: The VVIP rooms of the Palace 8
Marina, a premium karaoke nightclub attached
to Singapore’s Marina Mandarin Hotel, have
been equipped with new audio solutions
comprising loudspeakers from FBT and wireless
systems from Mipro.
The nightclub – boasting a oor-space of
almost 2,000 sq-m – includes a number of KTV
and private areas, culminating in the luxury of
manufacturer’s DLM 26 digital processors. Also
included are ve KM 500 karaoke ampli ers
from Mipro plus ve sets of the manufacturer’s
ACT 312 dual channel diversity wireless
microphone systems.
Mr Mok was assisted in tuning the systems
by Victor Chiam of Aexxus Inc. ‘With the FBT
digital sound processors, the system can be
tuned such that there is no feedback even if the

Inside one of the five VVIP rooms

its management as ‘a large social playground’
offering a ‘ ve star prestigious experience’.
Completed in March, the installation was
managed by Terence Mok of systems integrator
Prolight & Sound. Now spread between the
ve rooms are 20 CLA 604A active column
speakers from FBT, plus 20 CLA 208SA
active subwoofers, and ve of the Italian

digital matrix intercom system has been used
to provide communications throughout The
House of Dancing Water – an ‘in-the-round’
water show created by the Franco Dragone
Entertainment Group –for Macau’s City of
Dreams entertainment complex.
‘The Riedel solution was originally speci ed
by the sound designer Francois Bergeron of
the Thinkwell Group in the US,’ said Jason
Graham, head of sound at Dragone Macau
Ltd. ‘We continue to work with Riedel’s
Artist primarily for its reliability, stability, and
seemingly limitless exibility. All of these
factors are important due to the integral role
the system plays in uniting everyone who is
working on the show.’
Designed by Pei Partnership Architects,
the state-of-the-art Dancing Water Theatre
created for The House of Dancing Water
includes a 16.8 million litre stage pool –
equivalent to ve Olympic-sized swimming
pools – within an arena boasting a 40m high
steel-trussed space that provides the height
required for the show’s diving and acrobatics
elements.
