Results: Course Caddy, SNAG, Lorente, Caddie Central, FITCO, Mental Training, ShipSticks, The Lakes at Castle Hills, Barrington, Advantage Hole In One, PlayKleen, Q-UP, Jani-King and Veritex Bank were all added as new nontraditional golf related sponsors. Also, every Section major had a title sponsor for the first time in history. Objective: Ensure the successful implementation of the Texas State Open at The Lakes at Castle Hills and provide exceptional value for Bright Realty. Results: We have developed a very good relationship with PGA General Manager, Chris Martinez and his staff. Participation in the event increased by 24% from 2011 to 2012. We also conducted the Texas Women’s Open, ProScratch, Byron Nelson and PGA TOUR Qualifying at The Lakes at Castle Hills to further enhance the relationship. Objective: Enhance social networking strategy specifically for the Junior Golf Foundation. Results: Increased Facebook “likes” by 10% and Twitter “followers” by 20%. Objective: Launch new websites for Section and Foundation. Result: Exceptional upgrade and well received by Section and Junior Golf Foundation Members. Objective: Develop a plan to grow the Ewing Charity Classic. Results: Played 19 teams and generated $178,000 for the Junior Golf Foundation. Both Participation and revenue generated were up more than 25% from 2011. In addition, Fin Ewing also gave away a car for a PGA professional for nearest to the hole. The car was won by Courtney Connell. Objective: Develop enhanced staff transition plans. Results: Katie Manor took a part-time role following the birth of her son, and we hired Brittany Beckett in a role as Junior Tour Operations and Community Development. Harold Geyer accepted a role as a Rules Official with the PGA TOUR and Mike Stiller and Stacey Jourdan stepped up and shared the tournament department’s responsibilities. Our internship program continues to provide great bench strength as eight of our 12 full-time employees are former interns. We also developed enhanced relationships with PGA of America employees in our market, Bill Keys and Chuck Higgins. Objective: Build future leaders by growing committees. Results: We have 13 Committees for 2012-13, an increase of four Committees. New or reinstated committees include Team Golf, Coaching and Teaching, Assistants and the Ewing Charity Classic. 72 different PGA Members / Apprentices served on these committees this year, which represents approximately 10% of our Membership. Objective: Continue to enhance relationships with all allied associations. Results: We have stronger than ever relationships with the TGA, STPGA, Byron Nelson and Colonial. PGA Member and HP Byron Nelson Championship Tournament Director, Jon Drago was named the Section’s Horton Smith award winner. The annual budget of the Northern Texas PGA is a source of pride for the Section. In recent years, the organization’s total assets have expanded significantly and now exceed $1.60 million. The Section’s tournament program remains strong with steady growth over the last 14 years in participation, purses and quality of operations. The Section’s Major Championships – Western, Eastern, NTPGA Professional Championship, Section Championship and Match Play Championship – have seen participation increase 27 percent and purses grow by 47 percent since 1999. The Northern Texas PGA Senior Associates’ Tour was not conducted in 2012, rather the Board decided to focus on our core customer, the PGA Member, and a large reason for the significant increase in participation from 2011 to 2012 was due to the 62 professionals who participated in the Senior Division and competed for $19,600.00 in prize money. Look for further enhancements to this program this year. The Foundation’s Junior Tour has evolved into a comprehensive program that positively impacts the lives of more than 3,100 area youth.
