Executive Director’s Report
First, let me start by saying thank you.
Thank you to Philip Bleakney, Paul Earnest, Tony Martinez and the Board of Directors for having the continued
confidence in my ability to lead the best and most dynamic Section in the country.
Thank you to my team for their dedicated efforts in support of the Section and Foundation. It is my pleasure to work with
each of you every day.
As it relates to our business, with the relatively turbulent economy as a backdrop for the past four years, I am especially
pleased to report that the Section and Junior Golf Foundation continue to flourish. The Northern Texas PGA has enhanced
the quality of programs and services offered, achieving unprecedented national attention with individual member
achievements and thrived economically.
The keys to this success include tremendous member support in vital business development areas such as program
participation, hosting events, fundraising and sponsor procurement. In addition, dynamic leadership from the Board of
Directors, Past Presidents, Advisory Board and staff has fostered an environment where “team goals” far outweigh
individual accomplishments.
The Section has worked strenuously to become highly organized and disciplined in its operational endeavors. In addition,
leadership has accommodated the necessity of building a strong team of highly competent and extremely committed
people.
The business of the Northern Texas PGA is very much reliant upon a quality business plan developed by the Board of
Directors and staff. The annual business planning process coupled with the governance model used by the Section insures
that committees, directors and officers maintain an active role of supervision and involvement, while staff implements the
desired programs and services. In 2012 we had a hard look at all the programs and services that we offer our PGA
Membership and made some relatively small but impactful changes.
The business plan includes the following strategic business functions: administration, communication, education,
employment and club relations, finance, governance, junior golf, marketing and sponsors, member services and
tournaments. A summary for each category follows:
