Bridging the gap between science and application Awards / Accolades Raising Money— and Weights—for Cancer Awareness Chat Williams, State Director of the Oklahoma Strength and Conditioning Association, with the help of other local sponsors, recently put together the 2004 Stephen Wann Bench Press Competition to raise money for, and awareness of, colon cancer. Photo Finish! NSCA member Jay Dawes, of Edmond, Oklahoma, carries his 6-month-old daughter, Gabrielle, across the ?nish line during the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, April 25, 2004. Jay was scheduled to run a two-person relay, but his race partner could not attend, so he ran the entire marathon himself. The event raised over $6,000 this year with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society in the name of Stephen Wann, an employee and dear friend of The Health Club, who passed away with colon cancer.
