Emotion and motion
Imagine never going for a walk with your friends to talk through a difficult issue.
Imagine never shaking hands or hugging someone goodbye.
Imagine never raising your arms and cheering as your team win.
Imagine never kissing someone you love.
When we want to express our feelings we move. It’s natural.
In a group when people are talking about feelings the tendency is to become locked up
and frozen, which makes revealing how we feel through Blobs and discussion even
harder. Something we work on is how to unlock people. This can be in simple ways.
Getting someone to stand up and give out pictures can release them.
Having a drink or biscuits to munch on requires some sort of movement.
Using Blob cards helps people to pick them up and fiddle with something in their hands.
Using a photocopy, which can be drawn on, allows people to doodle their ideas.
Passing a picture between people gets people moving.
Projecting a Blob on the wall and giving them a post-it to place on the image to show
which one they are gets a group out of their seats.
