Its stated goal is to “identify, develop, implement and evaluate sustainable, equitable and effective models of health in all communities by combining clinical technology, scientific reasoning, and social science program models.” On February 20th, a special meeting of ARCHES members was convened to gauge the level of interest among ARCHES members for submitting National Institutes of Health (NIH) R-15 grants and how they would be beneficial to the faculty and students of CHHS. Since there is a high level of interest among ARCHES members, Dr. Mark DeHaven (Director, ARCHES) will be working with Dr. Christopher Blanchette, Associate Dean for Research and Public Engagement in CHHS, and other members of the research office, to develop template materials for grant applications. Also this month, ARCHES held a general meeting on February 21 st to discuss ideas about the academy’s organizational structure and future website. There was also a general discussion about how ARCHES members and other faculty in the CHHS can begin working together to overcome existing barriers to research inside the college and throughout UNC Charlotte. Also during the meeting, Dr. Jean-Claude Thill, Director, Project Mosaic, gave a presentation about Project Mosaic which aims to “enhance social and behavioral science research at UNC Charlotte”. Members of ARCHES were enthusiastic about working with Project Mosaic in the future. The ARCHES next meeting will be held on Friday, March 14th.
