Image ID usage with remote layout
Where: Channel | Image ID | Remote Layout tab
On this page you may configure Color Factory to create low-resolution copies of the images being
processed and stamp them with the ID configured on the Image and Owner ID tab. (All images will be
stamped with an Image ID – Owner ID is optional.) You may also choose the reverse process – to use
Color Factory in order to find the high-resolution file associated with a low-resolution file that has been
placed in the channel’s input folder and process the high-resolution image according to the information
in the low-resolution copy.
By ticking Create Remote Layout Image you may choose a size and optionally a file name prefix
for the low-resolution (layout) image. The high-res and low-res images are stamped with the same ID
(technically speaking, the low-res image gets the prefix LO in the Image ID field in order to distinguish
between the high-res and low-res images). Then choose a folder where the low-resolution layout image
should be stored. The high-resolution image is stored in the output folder (or in a subfolder depending
on AutoRouting options etc).
To go the other way and have Color Factory connect an edited, incoming low-resolution layout image
with the high-resolution image in the archive, enable Search for Original image and choose the path
to the Index Manager archive folder. Color factory will then try to match the UID of the layout image
file with the UID of a matching file in the archive. However, you have some options in case the UID is
missing in either file:
Use Image Similarity Index instead of UID – This option will try to match the low-resolution image
with its high-resolution counterpart in the archive based on the image similarity index created by Index
Manager. This can be useful if either file is missing its UID. You can set the degree of similarity required
using the drop-down list.
Use file name as ID if UID is missing – Choosing this option will have Color Factory search the
archive for a file whose name matches that if the low-resolution file.
Allow UID without lowres marker – As described above, when Color Factory created remote layout
image, the low-resolution copy is marked LO in the UID field to distinguish it from the master highresolution file. Ticking this option however, makes Color Factory accept non-low resolution files as the
input file.
