Splitting file names into metadata fields
Where: Channel | Metadata | File Name to Metadata tab
This feature lets you add parts of a file’s name to specified fields in the metadata.
First, choose the number of parts in which the file names are split. Typically, a separator is used to
separate file name prefixes that you want to add to the metadata field. If no separators are used, you may
tick Use fixed size parts instead of separator character, letting you manually enter the number of
characters that should be extracted from the file name. If the filenames contain a separator, simply enter
the separator character in the corresponding field. Finally, choose the metadata field to which you would
like to add the string.

This feature can be utilized to store folder hierarchy information in a certain metadata field. First choose
the number of subfolder levels to include. Note that level 1 is the first subfolder within the output folder.
Then choose the metadata field in which you wish to store the folder name.
