Eppendorf recognized the potential of this
invention and developed the first industrial
manufactured piston stroke pipette on this basis.
The »Marburg Pipette«, launched in 1961,
featured the same basic elements that we find
in today’s labs: A spring-loaded piston and a
removable plastic tip. This alternative to mouth
pipetting changed the face of pipetting forever.
