Terrier Spotlight
By Danielle Adone’ 13
With her bubbly personality and hard-working drive junior Arianna Sartzetakis’ 19 is taking full advantage of the Brooklyn world she calls home.
Born and raised in Bay Ridge, it only made sense for Arianna to attend a small college in the heart of Brooklyn Heights.
“ I believe Brooklyn is the trendsetter for the rest of the world,” said Arianna.
She has always been successful in a small school environment, and always with the support of her parents, her biggest cheerleaders, encouraging her to chase her goals.
Her current five year goal is to have her degree from St. Francis College, a law degree, and to be practicing law in New York, or perhaps even abroad for a year or two.
With two years at St. Francis under her belt, there is one thing Arianna notices that stands out above all else.“ Everyone is so happy here. It really is the small college of big dreams. Everyone knows everybody and we are all working towards the same dream.”
She should know, her position as Speaker of SACOR( Student Activities Counsel of Representatives), an executive position in the Student Government Association( SGA), means she oversees more than 40 campus clubs and organizations. She serves as liaison between the SGA and the clubs; assisting in organizing large events like Terrier Tuesday. She also works with the athletics and academic departments.
“ My work has made me gain a lot of leadership skills and expands my horizons every day. When I came to SFC, I didn’ t know I would be where I am right now.”
She added that each club she monitors is filled with passionate and motivated students and professors. One of those clubs is one she founded herself, Girl Up: United Nations Foundation St. Francis College Chapter. Girl Up is composed of a community of nearly half a million passionate leaders raising awareness and funds to help

Arianna Sartetakis’ 19. reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl. The club does outreach inside and outside of the school and organizes speakers to help and inspire club members, always remembering how much their daily work impacts the girls of the world.
Even with so much time devoted to co-curricular activities, Arianna puts her studies first. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA as a double major in Economics( Public Policy) and Political Science. Professors Miriam Salholz( Business Law) and Frank Sorrentino( Political Science) as well as Freshman Advisor Victoria Ford are big reasons Arianna offers for why she is thriving academically.
She also thanks two of her biggest mentors, Robert Olivia’ 04( Director of Special Events) and Ruben Gonzalez’ 04( Director of Student Engagement) who have taught her about life outside the classroom.
With law school in New York in her sights, Arianna is already building up experience, interning at Brooklyn Borough Hall in the Office of Special Counsel. This added commitment has helped her research skills, allowed her to get an inside look into government, and improved her time management skills.
She also spent 10 days in Greece on the Philoxenia Program College Trip, for students of Greek descent. During the trip, Arianna met with government officials and visited archeological and cultural sites while learning about the Greek economy and Greek-American relations.
When she isn’ t studying or being a campus socialite you can find Arianna enjoying an ice cream somewhere in Brooklyn. And while being a successful lawyer is absolutely the dream, Arianna also wouldn’ t mind opening her own local, ice cream shop one day. ●
