Robert Genalo’ 76 was honored by Freeport-based Literacy Nassau in March for his commitment to eradicating illiteracy in our communities. The event, the 18th annual( un) Scrabble Challenge raised $ 45,000. Genalo is a Senior Vice President— Wealth Management and Wealth Management Advisor with Merrill Lynch. Bob is currently President of Literacy Nassau which helps hundreds of Long Island adults who struggle with the inability to read, write, and speak English.
Arthur Gorman’ 76 was featured this past October in the publication On Wall Street. The article featured his vast experience in the wealth management field.
Eleanor F. McCabe’ 76 cannot believe that 40 years have passed since graduation. She retired from the IRS more than 20 years ago, and exclaims that“ time does fly.”
John T. Tumminia’ 76 is the director and founder of Baseball Miracles, a nonprofit group of baseball and softball instructors who teach boys and girls with economic and environmental disadvantages throughout the world. Baseball Miracles, which began in 2011, has visited Ireland, South Africa, Kenya, Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Therese B. DeLisio’ 77 has joined Episcopal seminary Bexley Seabury as Associate Professor of Theology and Liturgy and Academic Dean. She previously served as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, NY. Dr. DeLisio is a systematic theologian, liturgical scholar, theological educator, and an attorney.
Terence V. Hayes’ 77 has written a book entitled Blessed are the Peacemakers, about family, love, and police officers. It’ s available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Steven J. Virgadamo’ 77 was invited by the Vatican Congregation for Catholic Education to participate in its 2015 World Congress on Catholic Education. The invitation-only Congress was held in Rome and aimed to formulate and refresh core education principles, guidelines for Catholic Schools and Universities.
Karl T. Bednarek’ 78 has joined the Physician Network at Weill Cornell Medicine after having spent 33 years as a member of the Beth Israel Medical Center. He has moved his office to East 12th Street in New York City, where he practices gastroenterology. His son is almost 29 years old, while his daughter is 11. He still enjoys tennis, photography, and model trains.
Joseph R. Ferrari, Ph. D.’ 78 was named the sole recipient of the 2016 Distinguished Italian American Psychologist Award given by the Italian American Psychological Society, a special interest group of the American Psychological Association( APA). The award recognizes Ferrari for his extensive research, mentoring and public service. The APA also named Ferrari a fellow of its Division 8, a special interest group within the organization focused on social-personality psychology.
John Bischoff’ 79 joined the executive services firm Chief Outsiders to help the company’ s clients with marketing. Before joining Chief Outsiders, Bischoff worked for New York Telephone and AT & T, then became Chief Executive Officer of the BISCH Group, Vice President of International Brand Strategy for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, and Chief Marketing Officer for St. Moritz Security Services.

Mary E. Callahan’ 80 was named Volunteer of the Year 2014 for Marion County Sheriff’ s Office in Ocala, FL.
Irma Garcia’ 80( center) was awarded the Under Armour AD of the Year Award( ADOY) this past June by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics( NACDA). The award spans seven divisions( NCAA FBS, FCS, Division I-AAA, II, III, NAIA / Other Four-Year Institutions and Junior College / Community Colleges). The ADOY Award highlights the efforts of athletics directors at all levels for their commitment and positive contributions to student-athletes, campuses and their surrounding communities. Garcia has previously been awarded with the ECAC Division 1 Female Administrator of the Year Award.
Donovan Gordon’ 81 was appointed Director of Renewable Thermal by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority( NYSERDA). Gordon will help develop markets that support clean, high-efficiency, renewable thermal systems, including solar cooling, heating and hot water; air and ground source
heat pumps, and wood-fired heating systems. Gordon has more than 28 years of experience in business development. He was Executive Director for the Long Island Geothermal Energy Organization( LI-GEO), President of D. Gordon Consulting Inc., and a founding member of the New York Geothermal Energy Organization( NY-GEO).
Grace McEvoy’ 81 wishes her fellow classmates a happy 35th anniversary. She can’ t believe it has been that long since graduation, and still considers her time at the College to be the“ best four years.”
Michael Raya’ 81 is now on the Board of Directors for the Generic Pharmaceutical Association( GPhA). Raya is the CEO of West-Ward Pharmaceuticals, which offers oral solid and injectable pharmaceuticals to chain stores, wholesalers, distributors, health systems and government agencies.
Rev. Michael Tedone’ 81 just celebrated his 25th Jubilee as a priest. He currently serves as chaplain at Kingsborough Community College, Manhattan Beach, and chaplain at Beth Israel and Community Hospitals, both in Brooklyn.
Kathleen M. Boily-Purdy’ 84 was invited to speak at the National Convention of the Society of Health and Physical Education( SHAPE) of America where she spoke on the topic of Differentiated Instruction. Boily-Purdy is a National Board Certified Teacher, and a member of NYSUT-ELT.
Rosanne D’ Augusta’ 86 is a teacher in the Department of Health and Physical Education for Brooklyn Technical High School where she is also the varsity volleyball coach and varsity badminton coach. Her volleyball team was city champion in the 2015 – 2016 season, while her badminton team was city champion in the 2014 – 2015 season.
Josephine Savastano’ 87 has been chosen to lead Wells Fargo & Company’ s first Regional Commercial Banking Office( RCBO) in New York’ s outer boroughs. She also serves on the boards of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation and Long Island City Partnership, and was recently named as one of the New York Business Journal’ s Women of Influence, Class of 2016.
Kenneth D. Daly’ 88 was recently back on campus to give a lecture entitled Clean Green Renewable Energy for the Next Generation.
Rev. Marlowe V. N. Washington’ 89 defended his dissertation in March at Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY to become Doctor of Ministry in Transformational Leadership with focus on cultural intelligence. Rev. Washington is the senior minister of The Historic Parsells Church in Rochester, an American Baptist congregation. He is also a current trustee of Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY.
Chris Palermo’ 89 announces that his daughter, Priscilla, is a junior at Glenbard East High School in Lombard, IL. She recently committed to Colorado State where she plans to play tennis in the fall of 2017. Priscilla is the 17th ranked played in the Midwest and 151 nationally according to tennisrecruiting. com.
