Kylie Hutson
• Terre Haute native graduation from Terre Haute North in 2006
• All-MIC in track , volleyball , and diving . All-State in diving in 2006
• Two time McMillan Award winner with school records in pole vault and high jump
• 2011 USA Outdoor national pole vault champion
• 2013 Indoor and Outdoor pole vault runner-up
• Nine time NCAA All-American in pole vault , four-time NCAA champion
Hollie Hyche
• Seven time NCAA sprint champion in 1993 and 1994 at Indiana State University
• Ten time NCAA All-American
• NCAA Women ’ s Indoor Athlete of the Year and NCAA Women ’ s Outdoor Athlete of the Year 1994
• 14 time Gateway / Missouri Valley Conference champion
• Held MVC and ISU records in five events when she graduated
• In the Indiana State University Athletics Hall of Fame
Tunch Ilkin
• Three year starting center at Indiana State University
• Played for Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers and named All-NFL by Paul Zimmerman of Sports Illustrated in 1991
• Joined Pittsburgh Steelers radio broadcast team in 1998
• Author of “ Forged in Steel : the Seven Time-Tested Leadership Principles Practiced by the Pittsburgh Steelers ”
Eddie Hickey
• Achieved a college basketball coaching record of 429-230 in 29 years
• Won seven MVC titles and 1948 NIT
• Named 1959 Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches
• Inducted into National Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979
• After retirement , managed AAA headquarters in Terre Haute
Anton “ Tony ” Hulman
• Outstanding football and track athlete at Yale University
• Purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945 making repairs in time for the 1946 Indy 500 race
• Member of the four-man U . S . tuna fish team winning its first gold medal in international competition in 1949
Mark Jackson
• Played at Terre Haute South and then walked on at Purdue University
• Played in the 1984 Peach Bowl
• Drafted by Denver Broncos in 1986 draft in sixth round
• Played in four AFC championship games and three Super Bowls
Tommy John
• Played basketball and baseball at Gerstmeyer High School
• Signed with the Cleveland Indians in 1961 and played 26 years for six teams
• Compiled a 288-231 record with an ERA of 3.34
• In July 1974 , John damaged his ulnar collateral ligament of his pitching arm and Dr . Frank Jobe performed the revolutionary surgery that became known as “ Tommy John ” surgery by replacing the ligament with a tendon from his other arm .
• Came back a year later and won 168 games post surgery
• Four time All-Star in 1968 , 1978 , 1979 , and 1980
