INTERNATIONAL DAY
Startups Shape New York City
CHALLENGE
RESULT
Facilities, Location, and Cost
It is hard to find space in NYC which fit hardware companies’ needs, many locations don’t
support hardware businesses.
Talent and Education
The biggest need is people with diverse skill sets. Specialists might not be needed as much in
the future. Currently there is a disconnect between education and hiring – more collaboration
between companies and educational institutions might be beneficial.
Networks and Community
Creating quality networks can be a possible solution when it comes to connecting small and
big companies, as meetups often end without results or follow-ups.
Financing
While crowdfunding has emerged as a new source of funding, financing is still difficult to come
by, particularly with VCs who often prefer to invest in lower overhead software startups.

This year, we take the roundtables to the
next level, discussing global trends, how
to scale a business, and get traction in
NYC. Keep in mind that the outcome
should remain the same: valuable and
concrete insights for all that will last beyond today.
