The World to NYC Global Industry Challenge Delves into New Manufacturing
In 2014 , New York International and the New York City Economic Development Corporation ( NYCEDC ) organized the World to NYC : Global Industry Challenge on New Manufacturing . The development of 3D printing , the Internet of Things , and connected devices has made New York a worldwide hub in this field . Yet there are still challenges of starting up in the city , and last year ’ s roundtable discussions tackled these challenges head on , with a variety of representatives from big and small companies in NYC . The participants focused on what needs to change to ensure the future of NYC ’ s new manufacturing , covering a range of challenges of starting in NYC . See page 13 for an overview of the challenges posed and outcomes from the 2014 roundtables .
