Year 1334 Patriarch Beltram (in latin Beltrandus, Italian Beltrame) (rule 1334–1350) was a successful administrator, military and spiritual leader born in France moved to Italy and took the position of Patriarch in the powerful country of Northeastern Italy (Friuli), he left a deep impression in the region: Beltram not only enlarged the borders of the Patriarchate he also founded the university of Udine, built the dome of Udine and several military strongholds. He was acclaimed for his love for his people and for the great charity donations he did to the poor. Remembered as a pious and just ruler he has been sanctified by the pope and he originated the Beltrame surname. He was killed in 1350 in a plot, at the incredibly old age of 90.
