Fencing Team Draws Many New Fencers
New fencing strip at Field House is now the home venue for the Graybee team
The Graybee fencers have a new venue, thanks to a generous donation. The Fr. Theodore Field house is now where fencing home meets are held, to take advantage of a new fencing strip thanks to a donation from Lawrence Cetrulo, who is among the famous Cetrulo fencing family. The newly installed strip is the only one in the world with the scoring machine lights reflected in eight locations under the surface. Different colored LED lights are installed under the perforated steel strip and are triggered in tandem with the scoring machine.
This setup makes it easier for fencers, officials and spectators to correlate the action on the strip with the registered touches on the scoring machine. The built-in LED lights reflect penalties given, the start lines, warnings lines and end lines. Each end of the strip also bears a SBP Graybee mascot.
