Captain Daniel Idrovo writes: Being captain of the fencing team this year has taught me a lot. I knew that it was going to be tough because there were a lot of young, inexperienced fencers, and we weren’ t used to having more new fencers compared to experienced ones. This being the case, I knew it was my responsibility, as well as the other seniors’, to teach the new members, and to push them to become better. I had to motivate them to work hard so that they can lead the team in the future. I think that having a team that is mostly young can have some positive effects in the future. Since they are mostly freshmen, they see each other a lot and I can already see them building a bond together. In terms of the season itself, I felt like it was a lot of ups and downs. Even though we had a losing record, I saw a lot of improvement, which gives me hope for the future of the team.
