YOU’ VE GOT

ENERGISE YOUR CAREER AT SEMBCORP

THE

POWER!

Fancy powering up your future with Sembcorp?
Sembcorp is based on and owns most of Wilton International, a 2,000-acre site near Redcar where Sembcorp supplies nearby businesses with the land, energy and utilities they need.
But by doing it in a smart, lowcarbon way, Sembcorp is also helping the UK switch to“ net zero” – balancing the amount of harmful " greenhouse " gases produced by human activities with the amount being removed.
With global warming, that move to net zero has never been so important – but could you play your part at Sembcorp?
Apprentice life
Instead of going straight to university, a two-year Sembcorp apprenticeship allows you to build a rewarding career and learn valuable skills while earning a salary.
There’ s a yearly intake of apprentices in teams such as operations, maintenance, IT, laboratory and support services.
Sembcorp’ s“ grow our own” philosophy reflects their dedication to retaining talent.
In the past year, 24 apprentices sponsored by Sembcorp got fulltime jobs with the firm. And last month, the“ Class of 2025” began – 11 new apprentices starting out on the Sembcorp career ladder!
Sembcorp also sponsors apprentices to complete their apprenticeships, with Level 3 and 4 qualifications, or a Higher National Certificate qualification, in their chosen field.
A‘ win-win’ for everyone
A Sembcorp apprenticeship is an amazing chance to get“ handson” experience, learn from skilled mentors and start a long-term career.
And when apprentices become qualified in their roles, they earn really good, competitive salaries.
Many of the company’ s most senior managers, and more than a third of its current shift operations team, started out as Sembcorp apprentices.
But why does Sembcorp value its apprentices so much?
Sembcorp HR business partner Graham Taylor told Tees Skills:“ Our apprentices have a real hunger and passion to learn new skills.
“ They also bring with them new ideas and fresh ways of thinking that help support our existing workforce.”
APPRENTICE TO AWARD-WINNER
Don’ t just take Graham’ s word for it on how good Sembcorp’ s apprenticeship scheme is.
Grace Spencer joined Sembcorp from college in 2022 – and now she’ s an award-winner!
She told Tees Skills:“ My apprenticeship at Sembcorp gave me the chance to build real-world experience and grow professionally in a supportive environment.
“ The skills I developed helped me secure a full-time role as an executive assistant – and I was incredibly proud to be named Apprentice of the Year at this year’ s NEPIC Awards.
“ It’ s so rewarding to be part of a company that truly invests in its people.”
